October Review

This month we said goodbye to our esteemed colleague Dolores Burke. We wish her all the best as she begins her retirement. Dolores will be greatly missed by students and teachers alike but after a career of 40 years she is well due a rest.

4th -6th class had a Safety Talk around the dangers of Halloween with Local Community Garda Alan Murphy.

Fifty class took an educational tour to The Visual Art Gallery and George Bernard Shaw Theatre in Carlow at the beginning of the month.

Ms. Merrins’ class have had a very busy month getting hands on with maths and SESE, buddy reading with Ms. Henry’s class, getting physical for PE and dressing up for Halloween.

Ms. Barry’s class decorated autumn biscuits and wrote procedural text as part of learning about Autumn.

Quiz club with Ms. Griffin continues each week.

Below are our finalists for our lunchtime basketball leagues. We had two brilliant finals to finish up our term in the boys we had the orange orbits v the green giants and in the girls we had the pink panthers V emerald eagles. The giants and the eagles were victorious on the day but all four teams showed great skill and sportsmanship throughout the games.

Ms. Quinn’s 5th class were competing in the times tables rockstars, Ireland Rocks, competition from the 15th to the 17th of October. Children competed in online tables games and won points for correct answers. Our class scored the highest class average and highest overall score in Kildare schools. Karl Lech got the highest score in Kildare for individual students

Ms. Scannell’s class had great fun exploring maths topics during maths week.

Ms. Monaghan’s class have been studying the Normans and made their own Norman castle sculptures.

The month culminated with our annual Halloween walk. It was lovely to see all the parents and friends lining the paths as we made our way down through Kildare Village with the Junior classes and up through the town with the senior classes.
