September
We have had a very productive month settling in to our new classes, getting to know new friends and teachers and setting up all the routines that will allow us to have a great year in St. Brigid’s Primary School. We said goodbye to some fantastic colleagues and we welcomed new ones. We raised the Irish flag and we’ve had assemblies at each class level.
Our Parent’s Association did a fantastic job organising and running the Family Fun Day which allowed us to sample an array of foods and enjoy music and song from some of the countries and cultures which are now a huge part of our school. Our Senior infants are busy working on their fine motor skills in preparation for lots of writing this year. Below are some photos from Mr. Reidy’s class.
Some classes took advantage of the sunny days we had this month. Ms. Egan and her 6th class went on a local history trail. Ms. Donovan’s 3rd class linked their sewing lesson with a walk to the local markets to talk to the stall owners about how Kildare has changed over the years. A recount of their day can be read by clicking here. Ms. Hyland’s 6th class also got out in the sun as they settle in to their final year with us.
We love reading in SBPS. This month we were the lucky recipients of 100 beautiful picture books and novels covering the areas of girls in sport and education, diversity, multicultures etc. We look forward to reading them throughout the year. Ms. Supple and Mr Dunne have already engaged in Buddy reading with their class and I’m sure lots of other classes will get together in the months to come.
Clubs and councils are being set up. Pictured below are our Green School Team from each building.
Finally, we had our first Fun Run of the year. It was a cold morning but that did not deter our students and teachers. A special thanks as always to our wonderful Parents’ Association and volunteers for assisting with traffic management on the day.
