January 2024- Busy, Busy!
In January we hit the ground running. We didn’t have any planned extra curricular activities this month for good reason. With Brigid 1500 organising well under way all the classes were busy preparing their piece for the exhibition that was held at the end of the month. What a wonderful exhibition of talent and creativity it was. Both teachers and children should be very proud. Classes also visited the different landmarks around the town associated with St. Brigid. A fabulous concert was held in the Friary showcasing some of the talent in our school and community. Ms. Egan also directed a play with the 6th class children on the contribution of St. Brigid. INTO President, Dorothy McGinley even made a visit! Don’t forget the concert from the Friary can be viewed at KildareConcert.mp4
As well as preparation for St. Brigid, Third class found time to visit Newgrange. Some of the fifth classes are involved in the Junior Enterprise programme. During their Dragon’s Den day five potential business from Ms. Phelan’s class and six businesses from Ms. Delaney’s class pitched to the Dragons. Two of the dragons were from local business, ProKulture. One business from each class was picked to go forward in the programme. Two of the sixth classes took part in the Young Scientist exhibition in the RDS and had a great day out. Read some of their experiences below. Ms. Kelly’s class took part in an Irish Aid workshop while Ms. Phelan’s class took part in an energy workshop by SEAI. One of our quiz teams finished second in the Credit Union Quiz competition and our debating team did extremely well in their competition. Our new Astro Turf pitch is up and running and the children are getting great enjoyment from it both in PE and after school sports. Mr. Fleming and Ms. Hennelly have been visiting all the classes to catch up with their news this month also.
